Basses in the Booth

These pictures are quick shots of bass bodies before they enter the spray booth. You can click on each one to see a closeup of the wood figure. I will try and describe what is planned for each bass.

These 2 basses are going to The Bass Place in Arizona

5-string Bass
This bass has a gnarly maple top, which will be finished with a clear coat. We felt the natural coloring of the maple would be best brought out that way. Pickups for this bass are planned to be the new EMG-X series of pickups, with an 18V power supply.

4-String Bass
The maple top here is of the small-bubble variety, and we plan a knockout blue/purple burst paint job. The pickups and EQ will be Bartolini, Please contact the Bass Place for details on that.

These two basses are next, and not yet 'spoken for!'

Cocabola 5-string
One of our most enduring favorites is the cocabola-topped 5-string. The look is beautiful, and the sound is awesome, like a grand piano! The pickup routing is for EMG-40 size, but there are Bartolinis which slip right in too.

Hippie Sandwich 5-string body
These kind of basses are not as popular as they used to be, but I still like them. This bass has a bookmatched canarywood top over alder, with a paduak/purpleheart/maple center lam block. It gives it a semi thru-body look. I'm thinking of making a 6-string fretless neck on the 5-string width neck. For me, that's cool. But, if this really is your kind of thing, I'll put a regular 5-string neck on it too!
